Intermediates off to a flyer , juniors lose   21/02/2017

There was mixed fortunes for our two adult teams on Sunday on a lovely day for football in Pairc ui Mhichil. First up Sunday morning our Junior team lost out to Nemo on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-08 . Due to the fact the intermediate team were playing in the afternoon and coupled with injuries we lost to a Nemo team that were able to call on a few senior county winners and under the circumstances coped admirably. No doubt there will be better days ahead for Colm and the lads and they now look forward to a league encounter with Delanys away next Sunday.

The intermediates started their league campaign with a solid hard earned victory over a very lively Naomh Aban side. After early goals for both sides with Donal Cremin raising the green flag in the Ballinure end the game was 50/50 for long spells before we found ourselves 4 points in arrears entering the last 10 mins.

However,we showed great character in those last 10 mins to dig out a well deserved win with Eric scoring from a penalty to tie matters and then kicking the winning point to make it 2-13 to 2-12.

Early days, but some noteworthy performances from Mark Drummond and Nial Cash and with a few injured players to come back into the equation we can look ahead to the new season very positively.

Scorers : Cronin 5pts (3f) Hega 1-04 (pen 2f) Cremin 1-02 L Sull 2pts Drummond 1pt

Next up is the Tom Creedon cup semi final away to Newmarket on sat next. Winners of this prestigious tournament in  2013 we will be hoping to regain the trophy and use it as a springboard for a successful year ahead.
