Our Junior A team had a good win over Nemo tonight above in Ballinlough. A healthy St Michaels support were in attendance in what can easily be described as testing conditions. Robbie Cotter had us up and running after only two mins and although Nemo hit the next two scores after , we soon got into the groove and hit three points in as many minutes from Cotter , Deasy and Luke Fogarty. A Nemo free brought it back to a one point game before three unanswered Robbie Cotter points (1f) had us 0-07 to 0-03 in front at HT. As the crowd sought shelter from the incessant rain it wasn’t long before we were up and running again in the second half and a Dave Hogan piledriver somehow found itself in the Nemo net to give us a healthy lead. Robbie Cotter added another in between two Nemo points. Nemo don’t give up however and although they hit a few wides midway through the second period, a goal with 12 mins remaining left just three between us. A booming Tadgh Deasy two pointer eased the pressure and although Nemo added another , a Robbie Cotter free sealed the deal. Moment of the match however was a super block down from Captain Alan Nolan to deny Nemo an almost certain goal when there was only four in it with two mins remaining. Well done to management and players on a great win in brutal conditions.
