St Michaels 3-12 Fermoy 2-07

A superb battling performance from our U15 team below in Castle Road tonight under lights. Against a very strong and capable Fermoy side they dug out a result that seemed unlikely after six minutes. In that opening period ,Fermoy struck for two goals and a point, before we opened our account with a free, followed up shortly after with a superbly worked team goal from Tom. This team doesn’t know how to give up , and after starting to get to grips around the middle they steadily clawed their way back into the game. In fact Fermoy only managed to score a further six points in the remainder of the match from the 7th minute onwards. This because of the never say die attitude of the lads who tackled superbly after the early setback. Fermoy kicked two big scores on the 15 minute mark  but this kick started the Michaels recovery who went on to score the next 8 points that sent us to HT with a four point advantage. Fermoy weren’t going to lie down though , and three unanswered points from them brought it back to the minimum. Anyone’s game now, but it was Michaels who responded the better with a pointed free to settle things down before Tadgh Quirke goal put us back into the driving seat once more. A Fermoy free made it a four point game again and a black card for Michaels with 4 mins made for a nervous finish. A super Max save at his near post broke Fermoy , as up the field we went, and Tadgh Quirke added his second and our third goal of the night before a Tom free at the death rounded off a superb win. #stmichaelsabú
