St Michaels Ladies win opener

Our Junior team got their Cork Credit Unions Junior County League campaign off to a fantastic start with a strong victory in Round 1 against Knocknagree, played in glorious sunshine at Páirc Mhichíl Naofa in Mahon on Sunday afternoon.

Knocknagree started the brighter of the two sides, controlling the opening stages and moving six points ahead within the first 12 minutes. St Michael’s goalkeeper produced a couple of excellent saves during this period to keep the team in touch. Gradually, St Michael’s settled into the game and dominated the latter part of the first half, scoring 3 goals and 2 points to turn the match around and take a 4-05 to 2-06 lead into halftime.

St Michael’s maintained their advantage throughout the second half, despite a determined Knocknagree side who were clinical with their point-taking. St Michael’s added another 4 goals and 3 points after the break, while limiting Knocknagree to 7 points.
Both squads treated spectators to some excellent football, with impressive individual displays on both sides.
