PÁIRC MHICHÍL NAOFA MONTHLY CLEAN UP

JUNIORS ADVANCE TO FINAL , MINORS LOSE OUT

We had a mixed bag tonight with our Junior B’s and Minors. Above in Páirc Uí Laoire, our Juniors advanced to the Flor McCarthy Cup final after a classic game against Ballyphehane, which resulted in a two point win for the lads after extra time. Below in Páirc Mhichíl Naofa , our Minors gave it their all against Croke Rovers. They went in at half time three down but managed to get back into the game and edge a goal ahead with less than a quarter to go. A two pointer from Croke Rovers and soon after , a goal, ensured the  lads from North Cork took the trophy home. Hard luck lads , a good prep for the upcoming Championship

The under 8s (2018) dazzlers emptied the tank in Ballincollig yesterday morning. Playing against teams from Kinsale, Canovee, Nemo, Ballinora and Inniscarra, their determination and skills shone through. Well done boys, enjoy the summer break.

FÉILE P2 CHAMPIONS 2026

Féile P2 Champions 🟡🟢 , it sounds good doesn’t it ? Well , above in Ennis today, our lads in green and gold played football like the green and gold equivalent nearly 200 km’s away in Croke Park later on in the day. No one man band here though. A complete team effort from game one today right through  to the final whistle of the final.

From the very first match below in Carrigtwohill, there was something about this bunch of lads. You could see they took on board what they were told at training, the skillset was always there, it was the learnings, the cuteness of their coaches, Mucky, Doc, Skeets and Kenny which was embedded in their game plan. No silly mistakes , no sloppiness , pass the ball to the man in a better position, work the scoreboard, we all go to matches hoping to see this , we did today. We took advantage of the conditions afforded to us in the opening half of most games today and worked the scoreboard. Beating Kerry Champions ,Clare Champions , and hosts Éire Óg , we were immense. Led by Joint Captains, Brian and Cillian who drove on their teammates relentlessly from the very first throw in. Nearly 30 players travelled , nearly all saw game time, that is what it is all about , everyone involved, everyone contributing. Cian done untold damage on the goals tally, surging runs by Tadgh, Sam marshalling the full back line, Liam lording it at midfield with Cole. Tom always lurking, Kieran always alert, head up football , at pace, a joy to watch.

Going back to Carrigtwohill is probably not going back far enough, we need to go back when Doc, Mucky, Frankie, Roy etc. and all those St Michaels stalwarts, went to Páirc Mhichíl Naofa and the indoor hall in the Rockies, and continued on the work of those who made themselves special dazzlers in the first place. They carried on the tradition, and were rewarded for their huge investment of time and knowledge today. It was great to hear a Michaels roar in the stand today , a healthy travelling support. We will enjoy tonight and look forward to welcoming our Champions home. We have a big year as a club this year , celebrating 75 years, we want to mark that , mark today , and mark all of our other achievements on a special night in November and hope to see ye all at that.  Well done to everyone involved today. President Frankie was bursting with pride at full time , that is what it is all about.

It was a long few months from the point of qualification , but we must give special thanks to everyone who sponsored and supported us along the way, the usual sponsors who always step up, the new sponsors, the  former players , the current players and particularly the parents, who gave up almost as much time as their sons.  #stmichaelsabú #Féile26
