Our U21s claimed a great, hard fought victory on Sunday afternoon in the Cork Credit Union U21 Championship Semi-Final against a strong Donoughmore side who had defeated Lisgoold last Sunday. Both teams were very evenly matched, serving up a tight and competitive encounter in windy, blustery conditions at Pairc Mhichíl Naofa in Mahon.
Donoughmore held a narrow one point lead at halftime and created a couple of goal chances during the opening half. The second half remained just as balanced, with the sides finishing level at eight points apiece at full time—sending the match into extra time, as the game had to be decided on the day.
Neither team registered a score in the first period of extra time, but St. Michael’s pulled away in the second half of extra time, scoring three points to Donoughmore’s single score to secure the win.
St. Michael’s will now face St. Colum’s in the final at Easter, with the exact date TBC.
Final Score after extra time St Michaels 0-11 Donoughmore 0-09

Our U16s fell to a strong Macroom side on Sunday , with the visitors controlling much of the game in windy, blustery conditions at Pairc Mhichíl Naofa in Mahon.
Despite the result, our girls showed great heart and never stopped battling, taking plenty of positives from their performance.
Well done to the @macroomladiesfootball on a very competitive game. Best of luck for the season ahead.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the sad passing of Fr Der Leahy RIP. A great Blackrock and St Michaels man,Fr Der served in many roles with St Michaels . As Vice President up to his passing , he served as President, and also as a selector in the early 70’s. He made it his priority to attend our AGM’S, and always impressed upon us the need to enjoy participating, winning was important also, he would add with a smile. In October 2022 Fr Der celebrated a remarkable milestone when he marked 70 years in the priesthood ,his ordination was on the 26 October 1952. Just 5 days after that milestone, St Michaels won the Senior A County and we were delighted to be able to bring the cup to him that week. He was there in ‘98 for the Intermediate win and officiated at the official opening of our Páirc Mhichíl Naofa grounds in 2009, all great milestones in our Club. He was indeed a great clubman. He said himself that he was part of both The Rockies and St Michaels clubs longer than he was a priest , he was ordained a year after our foundation. He was a lifelong St Michaels member and supporter.Rest in peace Fr Der and thanks for the fantastic contribution you made to our club. You now join all the great St Michaels clubmen gone before you . Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. 💛💚
